Welcome to our web pages! My wife, Olesa, and I raise dogs. We have two breeds; German Shepherd Dogs and Miniature Poodles. We also train the Shepherds and show and train the Poodles. This keeps our daily lives very busy and rewarding. Our kennel name is Raven Ice Kennels.

Our puppies have went as far North as Whitehorse in the Yukon, and as far South as Guatamala. Mostly they go to their new homes in our province of Alberta. Our kennels are by Innisfail, and are close to Calgary and Edmonton, and very close to Red Deer. Some of our Shepherds were Police Service Dogs and some were search and rescue. Whether you want an obedience / companion dog, and-or a dog that could be encouraged to have strong protective instincts, if you look at our adults, you will see that is what we are producing.

The puppies are ready to go at eight weeks. They are microchipped and Vet checked, and dewormed. They get their Parvo and Distemper vaccine at 7 weeks. We offer a two year health and hips guarantee.      Visitors are always welcome by appointment...Call 403-746-2965

Olesa does the grooming on her poodles. She also trains them for Obedience Titles. She is now showing her young poodles for their Championship Titles. She raises Miniature Poodles only. I teach my Shepherds basic obedience and their pedigrees are full of Schutzhund trained Sires and Dams. As you will see in some of our pictures, we have lots of room to give our dogs exercise and fun!
Food quality is very important. Dogs are from the Wolf family and they are omnivores. That means they eat meat but will also eat berries and vegetables. Cats are true carnivores and only eat meat. In the last fifty years, cooked dry food (kibble) has been introduced, with most of it originating from companies that used to make horse and cattle feeds. So it was only natural that they put grains into their dog foods as the main item. Then they would add the left over animal parts from slaughter plants, as well as road kill, and any other cheap forms of meat or fish they had available. Of course these scraps had to be preserved, and they use a preservative that can cause cancer. This product has been taken out of all human food.

Now there are companies that make dog food with human grade meat, and very little grains. They also use natural preservatives, and include fruits and vegetables and proper amounts of good fatty acids like Omega 6 and 3. This quality of dog food is cheaper in the long run, by keeping your dog healthier.

Some people now are feeding their dog fresh frozen meat with fruit and vegetables and natural preservatives. They mix it up from scratch, or purchase from a multitude of suppliers. This is ultimately the best, as cooking takes some of the nutrients out of food.

If you are interested in reading about vaccinating dogs, Google "vaccinosis in dogs". You can also go to the American Veterinary Medical Association to find info on vaccines.
